What’s your history?

I was born in Portland, Oregon, but grew up in the Vancouver/Hazel Dell area.  After I graduated from high school in 1992, I moved to Portland, Or and lived there until I met my husband and got married in 2001. We knew we wanted to move back to Vancouver since the majority of my family resides here. We wanted to start a family and felt that it would be the perfect place to do that.  We still live in Hazel Dell, and have two beautiful daughters, Trinity is 16 and Bianca is 13.  We LOVE Vancouver, and can’t imagine living anywhere else.

Tell us about your dogs.

My family and I LOVE animals.  I was raised with everything from the typical dogs and cats, to lizards, hamsters, rabbits, chickens etc.
Our fur babies at the moment consist of Bubby Boo, who is my eight-year-old pug and a total Mama’s boy, Pheobe Roo, who is a Pug/ English Bulldog cross.  She is the sweetest girl, and a total tank. We also have a guinea pig named nugget a rabbit named peanut, and two cats, 19-year-old Zoe Gremlin and 10-year-old Gigi.  It is a complete zoo around our house 24/7, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. My fur babies are an extension of my kids, and I would do anything for them.

What is your favorite thing about walking dogs?

I would have to say that my favorite thing about walking dogs is getting to know each individual dog and their personality. I love that each one is a unique being, with quirks and endearing traits, just like people. Once you get to know them and they become comfortable with you, they are unconditional with their love. Their happiness and excitement are contagious, and if I’m having a bad day or am a little down, they are always there to comfort me and make me feel better. They are all so special, and I feel blessed to be able to meet so many of them.

What experience do you have working with dogs and other animals?

As I mentioned above, I have been raised with dogs my whole life. My Dad was a bird hunter, and we had Brittany Spaniels and Labs who he trained to take out on his hunts.  I loved to sit and watch him work with the dogs. He was an excellent trainer and hunter, and I think some of that has rubbed off on me.  Before I was hired with The Vancouver Dog Walkers, I had been a stay at home Mom for the last sixteen years. Because I was home so much, my friends and family would have me take care of their dogs when they would go out of town. My sister has had as many as six dogs at a time. They would load them all up and bring them to my house. At one point, I had eleven dogs running around my house for over a week. It was chaos, but fun chaos. 🙂

For fun I enjoy…

For fun, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love to cook and bake, so am always making something yummy to keep everyone happy and satisfied.  We love the outdoors, so we try to get out for long walks and hikes whenever possible. I LOVE scary movies, so we have horror movie marathons several times a year, in which Bubby and Pheobe are my protectors.

If you had to eat the same meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

This is a hard one for me, as I love all kinds of foods. I am a self-professed foodie, so picking one meal to eat for the rest of my life is nearly impossible.  I guess I would have to say that if I were to pick something that I could eat over and over without getting tired of it, it would probably have to be tacos.  When I make tacos at home, I season my ground beef with my own special seasoning, and I fry my corn tortillas.  Whenever I make them, no matter how many I make, there are NEVER any leftovers.  They are soooooo good!!!

What is one hope or dream you have for your future?

I honestly feel like I live such a blessed life. I am fortunate to be able to have a wonderful, supportive family.  I have many friends, with a few that are special enough to be considered family. My hope for my future is to continue to be healthy so that I can be with the people that I love and to be able to do the things that I love for as long as I can. I am also looking forward to a very long and successful partnership with The Vancouver Dog Walkers, they are such great people and such a great company to work for that its an honor to be employed by them.
